Hello, I’m Dr JoAnne Rochon, I’m a general dentist in downtown Ottawa and people often ask me if high speed braces are more painful than conventional braces because the treatment is faster.
High Speed Braces (HSB) are not more painful than regular braces. At Ottawa HSB, we use low forces to move teeth, not high forces that can cause pain. If high forces were used on the teeth, the teeth simply wouldn’t move quickly because we would be bruising the ligament that surrounds the root of the teeth, and that bruise would need to heal before the teeth could move and this process could take weeks. So there is no benefit to applying heavy forces during a hsb treatment.
Only light forces are used and The result is a beautiful smile, in about 6 months, with nearly invisible braces, for a fraction of the cost of veneers in a fraction of the time of conventional braces.
